IMAGE RIGHTS

Image licensing and copyright

Effective September 7, 2026

This page explains who owns the original diagrams and illustrations published by Umlaut Letters, what ordinary linking permits, and how to request permission for reproduction or republication.

Copyright ownership

Unless an image page states otherwise, the original diagrams and illustrations published by Umlaut Letters were created for this website. Copyright in their original visual design, explanatory wording, and arrangement belongs to Sören Schmidt. All rights are reserved.

Image captions and structured metadata identify Umlaut Letters as the credited publication and Sören Schmidt as the copyright owner.

Facts and characters are not claimed

This copyright notice does not claim ownership of Unicode characters, character names, code points, keyboard sequences, language facts, or other underlying information. Individual letters and symbols remain available for ordinary copying and use.

The protected material is the original expression used to present that information, including the graphic composition, selection and arrangement of explanatory elements, and original written labels.

Linking to Umlaut Letters

You may link to any public page on Umlaut Letters without asking for permission. Link to the page that provides the relevant image and context. A link must not falsely imply sponsorship, endorsement, partnership, or authorship.

Permission to link does not include permission to copy, embed, hotlink, republish, or distribute the image file itself.

Reproduction and republication

Reproducing, adapting, redistributing, or republishing an original diagram or illustration requires prior written permission unless the proposed use is otherwise permitted by applicable law. Saving, cropping, resizing, recoloring, translating, or removing a credit does not create a new license.

Permission for one image, publication, format, or campaign does not automatically cover another use. Any approved credit line and link requirements will be stated in the written permission.

Educational and editorial requests

Educational, academic, journalistic, and other editorial requests are considered individually. Approval is not automatic, and the nature of the organization does not by itself create permission to reuse an image.

When requesting permission, identify the exact image and page URL, describe the intended use, name the publication or organization, and state the format, audience, distribution channels, territory, and expected duration where relevant.

Request permission

Submit an image-use or licensing request through the contact page or email [email protected]. A request does not grant permission. Reuse is authorized only after written approval from Sören Schmidt.

Third-party rights

Product names, platform names, keyboard conventions, and external references may belong to their respective owners. Permission from Umlaut Letters does not grant rights in third-party trademarks, software interfaces, or other independently protected material.
